How can I convert LIVE video into DMX512? In order to capture video, MADRIX will need the input of one or more video capture devices and their Windows drivers installed on the system.   Using the SCE video effect you can play any video from your harddisk, cd-rom, etc. Another possibility is to grab a live video signal, e.g. with a webcam or camera. All video codecs that are installed on your computer are being supported automatically by MADRIX. You can activate the feature and capture live video data by clicking the Capture button within the SCE Video menu. Next, select the capture device. You will now be able to see the live video stream on your LED set-up.

I am encountering problems using the Traxon Tile 64PXL fixture. How can I fix this?

The 'old' Traxon Tile 64PXL fixtures are equipped with a blue dip switch at their backside. If you notice a flickering using these panels, dim them by setting the masterfader to a value of 254 or less.

I already own a DMX512 or Art-Net interface. Can I use it with MADRIX?

Yes, you can use it. Click here and here to view a list of supported DMX512 and Art-Net interfaces.

How can I use different fixtures in a single LED matrix?

Having MADRIX already opened, click the "Preferences"> menu and select "Patch". Pressing "F3"> will have the same effect. You will have to to select the universe and the fixture you want to patch in the next step. Moreover, you can add new fixtures or resize the matrix.

How can I use different fixtures in more than only one LED matrix?

Start MADRIX, and click the "Patch" tab inside the "Preferences" menu. Do not forget to define the size of your matrix inside this dialog!
Afterwards, you have to setup your first matrix. Select the appropriate universe and the fixture you want to patch. Of course, it is also possible to add new fixtures. Repeat the instructions step by step for each matrix you want to define or configure.

My lighting fixture is not supported. Can I still use it?

Yes, you can use it. To do so, please use the MADRIX fixture editor and create your own MADRIX fixture. This will only take a few minutes.

How do I use different effects on different areas of my LED matrix?

You have to use the so-called mapping function. Please click the "Map" button included in every effect interface. here you can easily locate effects on your defined matrix area.

How can I update my MADRIX software installation with a patch?

Click at the menu the entry Preferences and next Patch. You can now easy patch your installation with an easy to use graphical patch.

Can I implement a gradient from the upper right to the bottom left?

Of course, you can. You will just have to select the effect called "SCE Color Ramp" from the list of effects. Decide which colors you want to use and click on the "arrow from the top right to the bottom left".

Can I load and display a picture (bitmap)?

To display a picture, select in the effect box A or B the "SCE Bitmap" effect. Now click on the "Image Table" button. Inside this new dialog press "+". Proceed by selecting the desired bitmap from within the directory and confirm your choice.

Is it possible to set up a text ticker?

Yes, it is. Simply select "SCE Ticker - Scrolling Text". Then, type in the text you want into the "Text" field.

Are there any effects available, which do not require musical input?

Yes, MADRIX supports a lot of static effects. All static effects do not need an audio signal for DMX output.

Is it possible to control the software via my hardware mixer?

Yes. Select your DMX-IN device and the applicable DMX-IN protocol.

Is it possible to control the software with my Art-Net node?

Yes. Activate Art-Net and select your Art-Net node as DMX-IN device and the DMX-IN protocol.

Does MADRIX allow you to control movingheads?

Yes and no. There is no preset available in MADRIX for movingheads. On the contrary, MADRIX sends DMX values and therefore it is possible to control movingheads. Still, the command to assign different DMX channels to different functions of movingheads is not included.

How many audio channels is MADRIX able to analyze at the same time?

You may select one audio device in the Microsoft Mixer. But it is of no importance to MADRIX how many channels are added to this device, eventually. It is possible to use only one instrument as well as having a whole orchestra being analyzed simultaneously.

Which DMX interfaces are supported by MADRIX?

MADRIX relies on existing standards: the DMX512 protocol and DMX512 devices. For its data output MADRIX supports a full range of products, including USB-, PCMIA-, PCI- and Ethernet IP DMX-devices from Soundlight (the DMX company), e:cue, Nicolaudie - Sunlite, GLP Light Produktion GmbH, ENTTEC, peperoni-light, etc. Click here to see all supported devices.

Are there any preset color tables included in the software?

Yes. MADRIX contains different color schemes of Sound2Light and Music2Light effects.

It is not possible to add a new EuroLite T9 device. What can I do?

Case 1: If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 in 32-bit mode and MADRIX 2.8 or 2.8a, this issue can occur. Please search for the 'npptools.dll' on your harddisk and copy this file into the MADRIX application folder.
Case 2: If you are using a Windows operating system in 64-bit mode and MADRIX 2.8 or 2.8a, this issue can occur as well. Please search for the 'npptools.dll', 'packet.dll', and the 'wpcap.dll' on your harddisk and copy these files into the MADRIX application folder. Please also make sure to install the WinPcap drivers with the MADRIX installation first. This issue will be fixed with the next release version.

I am receiving the error message "xmlite.dll not found". What can I do?

MADRIX requires Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows XP. Please install the SP1 before running the MADRIX setup. ( microsoft.com )

MADRIX 2.14b does not recognize my MADRIX KEY. What can I do?

MADRIX 2.14b includes a new MADRIX KEY driver. After installing MADRIX 2.14b it is recommended to reconnect the MADRIX KEY, before starting the software or to restart the PC.

Which MADRIX PLEXUS firmware should I use?

It is recommended to always use the latest firmware and drivers. If new drivers and a new firmware are available for the MADRIX PLEXUS, please always update the firmware first and then the drivers! Hardware model V1.6 ('Model: PLEXUS V1.6') can be updated using firmware version 1.07.4369 or higher without any problems. Hardware model V1.7 ('Model: PLEXUS V1.7') requires at least firmware version 1.06.4260 or higher! Please do not use a previous version.
